Afternoon in Old town

Today, Husband and I went to Old town with our good friend Cowboy. I wanted to show the boys the waterfront, and explore all the little shops and treasures. We walked on the beach, and played in all the shells that had washed ashore.

I love the ocean. Madly, deeply.

When I was a little girl, I vividly remember going to swim at my best friend's house. We'd cross our feet, one over the other, and slide our skinny ankles into pool dive toys. Then, handicapped we'd attempt to swim around the pool like mermaids. We'd wear goggles, and examine the underwater beauty that was the tile and concrete. Being under water at all, thrilled me.

I remember the first time I went to snorkel in Hawaii. Boy, was my mind blown by the true beauty of what I saw. This wasn't turquoise glass, or bubbles in concrete. The colors, the fish, the coral. wow.

Husband found this fish jaw, and asked "Can we keep it?" - I replied "sure..." On the car ride home, I asked what he wanted to do with it. Husband's response: "You were the one who wanted to keep it." oh, communication.

Alas, the vegan/vegetarian restaurant that I wanted to drag the poor carnivorous boys to, was closed. So we ended up at this gem. Monica's Waterfront Bakery & Cafe, and boy was it an experience.

A) they have every pastry known to man. Even two gingersnaps, held together with lemon frosting!
B) Husband got a locally made soda. delish.
C) Homemade quiche for lunch. Yes, please.

  4. I am intrigued by this idea of two gingersnaps and lemon frosting...I love both of those things. Not sure how they would pair up, but hey!
