Vintage Camera Love

Remember this puppy from a few weeks ago? Well she is my Praktica, and one my most favorite cameras - She was one of the first film cameras I ever played around with. I remember the first time I curiously observed all of the oddly numbered scaled settings. 1-2-4-8-15? I'm waaaay in over my head I told myself as I cried over my first (and-most-certainly-not-last) accidentally exposed roll of film.

More than the artistic side of photography, I think I've always been a little more intrigued by all the math and puzzles that seem to make up the practice. "If I face this way, open the aperature up to this, and use 400 ISO... hmm. Maybe a faster shutter speed." The nerdy-internal calculations that make up the thoughts of a passionate photographer. Oh, if you only knew.

Due to my love of photography and hate of our painfully plain brown ikea couch - I decided to honor my dear praktica in all 'er glory. Enter my last project.

I printed her on a piece of fabric, and then sewed her all up. What do you think? Have you ever made pillows before? Its strangely addicting. You haven't seen the last of my pillow efforts.
