Turkey + Veggies Sliders

Somewhere around this time of the year when businesses start bombarding us with back to school adds - I become utterly depressed. Because unlike most people I spend the first few months of summer preparing for summer. I like to give the house a nice  spring  summer cleaning. I organize closets, shelves and storage bins. I re-do the household budget and take couponing to a new extreme. and August first I wake up like: Who has been living my life!?

The good news is, along with the new budget comes good summer food. Oh, Golly. And these sliders are definitely on the top of my list. After a recent date to a certain Seattle bar I discovered my passion for all things tiny burger. Namely, sliders. I had what I would call: the best turkey burger of my entire life.

At home a few nights later, I found myself mixing up sliced carrots and brown sugar with ground turkey in attempt to recreate my new obsession. Husband and I were delighted with the results.

Ingredients:
1/2 pound of ground turkey
1/4 cup BBQ sauce
1/4 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup thin sliced carrots
1/2 cup thin sliced celery
1/2 cup diced onion
- Cheese slices
- Buns, Hun!
Directions:
1. Mix all of the ingredients together.
2. Smile at how easy this recipe is turning out to be.
3. Put entire meaty mix into the freezer and allow to firm up for 25 minutes or so.
4. Remove and roll into slider sized patties.
5. Grill those babies.
6. Place tomato and cheese atop once patties are cooked and allow cheese to melt.
Husband and I feel like miniature Rachel Rays'. We spent the entire meal talking about different variations that we plan to make in the future. For example: Spicy Cajun, Greek and Mexican versions. Who knows, maybe we'll write a Slider Cookbook one day. Until then, make your own and let us know what worked for you.

P.S. Grilled Hawaiian rolls make the BESSSST buns.

  4. These look so yummy! I really want to try out more burger recipes topped with roasted or grilled veggies since I'm still not a huge tomato fan -- but I do love peppers and onions on burgers. This post just gave me a recipe idea :)
